Tackling Fear

Let us pray; Dear Heavenly Father we are here again to receive life from Your Word Lord. We ask that the eyes of our understanding be enlightened in Jesus’ mighty Name. Yes, and Amen.

So today, we are looking at the topic, Tackling Fear.

Now, what I simply want to do tonight, is to share with you a revelation by the Holy Spirit that blessed me. I pray it blesses you as well.

So, for the most part of our lives as believers, amongst the many things we were taught, we learnt that the devil is the enemy and this is accurate.

However, over the years he has been given some sort of powerful description as though he has the power to destroy us believers.

Now, granted, the bible says in the book of John that he comes to steal, kill and destroy. But don’t forget who you belong to. Your Dad is the Monarch of the Universe.

What the devil uses to cripple ignorant believers is FEAR.

And where there is fear, there is a Scarcity of FAITH.

I was reading the book of Job and I saw something that we probably all know, but the revelation of it hit and funnily enough that’s the long and short of my teaching 😁

So, let’s look at Job 1

1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil.

2 And seven sons and three daughters were born to him.

3 Also, his possessions were seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yokes of oxen, five hundred female donkeys, and a very large household, so that this man was the greatest of all the people of the East.

4 And his sons would go and feast in their houses, each on his appointed day, and would send and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them.

5 So it was, when the days of feasting had run their course, that Job would send and sanctify them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, “It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” Thus Job did regularly.

6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them.

7 And the Lord said to Satan, “From where do you come?” So Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.”

8 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?”

9 So Satan answered the Lord and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing?

10 Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.

11 But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face!”

12 And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person. ” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.

13 Now there was a day when his sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house;

14 and a messenger came to Job and said, “The oxen were plowing and the donkeys feeding beside them,

15 when the Sabeans raided them and took them away—indeed they have killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you!”

16 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The fire of God fell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants, and consumed them; and I alone have escaped to tell you!”

17 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The Chaldeans formed three bands, raided the camels and took them away, yes, and killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you!”

18 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “Your sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house,

19 and suddenly a great wind came from across the wilderness and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young people, and they are dead; and I alone have escaped to tell you!”

20 Then Job arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell to the ground and worshiped.

21 And he said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked shall I return there. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord.”

22 In all this Job did not sin nor charge God with wrong.

[Job 1:1 – 22 NKJV]

I suggest you read it in your free time.

So, this was God bragging about how faithful and steadfast Job was.

But the devil said that Job did it because God was protecting him and all he had so he suggested that if God would strike him, he was sure to curse God.

And what happened next is what blessed me.

Do you know that Satan had to literally ask God for permission to touch Job’s livestock and family and also to inflict Job with sickness?

And then God told the devil that he can do all that but he should not touch his life.

And for me, the Holy Spirit gave me light from this passage in the easiest way;

the devil does not have the right to touch the children of God!

But you see, you must stay and meditate on the Word to receive light like this.

I’ll show you another scripture that strengthens our faith in God and casts out fear.

27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

28 And I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.

[John 10: 27-29 KJV]

These are the words of Jesus the Christ. He affirmed that no one can pluck you out of the Father’s hand and out of His as well.

The one problem that many believers have is majorly ignorance.

You see, there is an analogy the Holy Spirit gave me.

The fact that God protects us doesn’t mean that the devil will not try to come at us with temptations or attacks. However, scripture provides us with the right and effective way to resist him.

James 4:7 says;

KJV: Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Ephesians 6:10-11 also says;

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

[Ephesians 6:10-11 KJV]

Now, please note that I am deliberately giving you all these scriptures deliberately for you to meditate on.

One thing that was just laid in my heart is this. The power of the above scriptures is in the OBEDIENCE.

All the devil does is pervert what is good and try and lure you with certain temptations and you don’t fight back in your strength, you fight back with the revelation of the Word.

This is the same thing that Jesus did while in the wilderness. At every turn, He had a Word for every bit of temptation.

Let me end by saying this: do you know why the Word is so powerful?

It’s because the Word (Bible) is (in some instances like the gospels) the very Word of God or a direct representation of the mind of God on certain issues.

Now, the more you let the Word in, the more you know who you are and then ultimately, fear is gone.

Whether it is fear of lack, fear of protection (safety) or fear of death; you are already covered on all ends, you however have to study to know what has been handed over to you.

So, dearly beloved be still and know that He is God!

Father thank You for Your Word, thank You for Your light that illuminates our hearts. We ask that You continue to grant us the spirit of revelation into Your Word. Thank You, dear Heavenly Father. May Your name be praised throughout all the ages.

Yes, and Amen.
