Charge for the Year

By Brother Sammy

On Monday, 2nd January 2023.

Let us pray.

Dear heavenly Father, thank You for another opportunity to receive from Your precious Word. I ask that as we receive Your Word, Your light from Your Word will flood our hearts in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Yes, and Amen.

While trusting God for the word today, I was led to give a charge for the year.

I believe that we will all be blessed in Jesus’ name.

So, it’s a new year and it is somewhat of a tradition for everyone to take stock of their lives and pen down visions and goals for the year… Or maybe you’ve looked at your life this past year and have been able to identify weak points you intend to work on.

However, in most cases, if we’re to be honest, many times, said plans are often uncompleted at the end of each passing year.

Now here is the charge I have for you.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Genesis 1:1 NKJV

Now, this scripture starts with four powerful words that we should all learn to live by; “In the beginning God…”

You should always make it a deliberate point of duty to always start with God, in all things. Even in what you may consider secular.

The truth is that God has already seen the end of this year and He alone has the ability to guide you through it successfully.

But what most people end up doing is trial by error throughout a whole calendar year.

And the temptation to do what is trending or the business that seems to be booming is always there, I get it, but what is God saying to you as a person?

Remember He alone has your blueprint.

Little wonder why Habakkuk said what he said in Habakkuk 2:1

I will stand my watch And set myself on the rampart, And watch to see what He will say to me, And what I will answer when I am corrected.

Habakkuk 2:1 NKJV

He said he will stand on his watch and set himself on the rampart, why? So that he can receive from God.

Most times the believer may seem a bit lazy to wait and hear from God because in his or her view, it’s too much work but the truth is when you consider the stress of living your life based on trial by error, you will wait on God o.

It is really frustrating to work hard only to yield little or no results.

It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: For so he giveth his beloved sleep.

Psalm 127:2 NKJV

Scripture says it is vain to rise up early, to sit up late, only to eat the bread of sorrow.

See, I have decided to be deliberate about being led by the Holy Spirit.

Being led by the Holy Spirit makes things easy.

So, this year, hold on to Proverbs 3:5-6 very very tightly.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Proverbs 3:5 – 6 NKJV

Take note of the “lean not on your own understanding”.

Don’t just rush into things because it seems right. A man of God once said “Not every good idea is a God idea”

This year take out good time to pray more. Old patterns that fuel certain bad habits have to die.

Take out time to study more. You will know God’s will and purpose for your life when you study more and His voice will become clearer.

In all honesty, this is a year to be spiritual. Don’t just hang around the sea shore, take a deep dive in.

There are other matters that I will continue speaking about on the live call now, do well to join in.
