So, this is the last teaching on LAW VS GRACE and we will be looking at it with regards to power and walking in miracles.

First off, I’d like to say that when one sticks to the law which is the old way of doing things and the shadow of things that was to come, he or she can never walk in power!

What is power?

For a Christian, Power is the ability or capacity to have influence, affluence to change something or do something based on who you are in Christ.

Let us look at it in the light of walking in miracles.

As a child of God, we all are to work miracles naturally on the earth, it’s our right, it’s our possession, it’s who we are called to be.

Mark 16:17-20

[17] These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages.

[18] They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.”

[19] When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honour at God’s right hand.

[20] And the disciples went everywhere and preached, and the Lord worked through them, confirming what they said by many miraculous signs.

We see Jesus in the book of Mark, talking to his disciples and also to us, saying, so long as you believe in Him, you can work miracles effortlessly.

Just

Because

You

Believe!

But why do many believers filled with the Holy Spirit still have common head ache and you’ll see them running around looking for who to heal them today? 🤔

Most of this is majorly as a result of two things:

  1. Because they feel they are not worthy enough to work miracles so they go about seeking for someone who is “worthy” enough to work these miracles for them.
  2. And because some of them have the religious mentality.

You see, religion is limiting….

It either gives you the “sin consciousness” mentality or the “holier than thou” mentality.

And with these two, you cannot have power neither can you work miracles.

Let me give you an example. Think of someone that has always followed the law religiously, one of which is “thou shall not steal”. The day that this person steals out of necessity, he will keep having guilt and will not be able to do any other thing but be crying for mercy day and night even when God has forgiven them already (well… most of the time they don’t hear God so they don’t even know that He has forgiven them). So, they keep crying and pleading for mercy, the devils takes advantage of this and starts to accuse them more and more.

Imagine a child of that person falling very sick now, this person will say it’s because they stole that’s why their child is sick.

They won’t even think of laying their hands on that child and commanding the sickness to leave!

No!

The sin consciousness mentality will not allow them see the possibility of that.

They’ll come to you and say,

“Princess, maybe God is punishing me for stealing that handbag in 1992, that is why my child is sick in 2021” 😢

To them it has to be that or nothing,

The law makes them see God as a wicked God.

As someone that is always angry.

As a consuming fire that punishes them for every action.

They always want to do it by their efforts.

Always want to be righteous by their efforts.

This type of Christians can never walk in power.

Never!

Why?

Because they don’t even feel worthy in the first place, they don’t believe they are good enough to own it!

And if you do not own power you cannot dispense it!

You cannot give what you do not own!

The second example is for those who think they are too holy to associate with sinners, those with the “Holier-than-thou” attitude.

Those type of persons do not have love in their heart, so walking in miracles is far away from them.

For example, picture someone who feel they haven’t done anything wrong in their lives before, never sinned, never committed adultery, never fornicated, always dress in a certain way etc. Those type of people who judge others on everything down to dressing…

Without love/compassion many miracles will not happen. Even Jesus in His ministry was able to heal a lot of people and work so many miracles because He genuinely loved the people He came to die for.

It was said that Jesus had compassion on them before He was moved to pray for them and heal them.

In fact, He genuinely loved the world and desired their salvation that’s why He came in the first place. Without love, that couldn’t have happened.

Matthew 9:35-38

[35] Jesus travelled through all the towns and villages of that area, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness.

[36] When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

[37] He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few.

[38] So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”

John 15:12-17

[12] This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you.

[13] There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

[14] You are my friends if you do what I command.

[15] I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me.

[16] You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.

[17] This is my command: Love each other.

Matthew 20:29-34

[29] As Jesus and the disciples left the town of Jericho, a large crowd followed behind.

[30] Two blind men were sitting beside the road. When they heard that Jesus was coming that way, they began shouting, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”

[31] “Be quiet!” the crowd yelled at them. But they only shouted louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”

[32] When Jesus heard them, he stopped and called, “What do you want me to do for you?”

[33] “Lord,” they said, “we want to see!”

[34] Jesus felt sorry for them and touched their eyes. Instantly they could see! Then they followed him.

Luke 8:26-39

[26] So they arrived in the region of the Gerasenes, across the lake from Galilee.

[27] As Jesus was climbing out of the boat, a man who was possessed by demons came out to meet him. For a long time, he had been homeless and naked, living in a cemetery outside the town.

[28] As soon as he saw Jesus, he shrieked and fell down in front of him. Then he screamed, “Why are you interfering with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? Please, I beg you, don’t torture me!”

[29] For Jesus had already commanded the evil spirit to come out of him. This spirit had often taken control of the man. Even when he was placed under guard and put in chains and shackles, he simply broke them and rushed out into the wilderness, completely under the demon’s power.

[30] Jesus demanded, “What is your name?” “Legion,” he replied, for he was filled with many demons.

[31] The demons kept begging Jesus not to send them into the bottomless pit.

[32] There happened to be a large herd of pigs feeding on the hillside nearby, and the demons begged him to let them enter into the pigs. So, Jesus gave them permission.

[33] Then the demons came out of the man and entered the pigs, and the entire herd plunged down the steep hillside into the lake and drowned.

[34] When the herdsmen saw it, they fled to the nearby town and the surrounding countryside, spreading the news as they ran.

[35] People rushed out to see what had happened. A crowd soon gathered around Jesus, and they saw the man who had been freed from the demons. He was sitting at Jesus’ feet, fully clothed and perfectly sane, and they were all afraid.

[36] Then those who had seen what happened told the others how the demon-possessed man had been healed.

[37] And all the people in the region of the Gerasenes begged Jesus to go away and leave them alone, for a great wave of fear swept over them. So, Jesus returned to the boat and left, crossing back to the other side of the lake.

[38] The man who had been freed from the demons begged to go with him. But Jesus sent him home, saying,

[39] “No, go back to your family, and tell them everything God has done for you.” So, he went all through the town proclaiming the great things Jesus had done for him.

We can see in Luke chapter 8:26-39 that Jesus did not only have compassion on humans, He had compassion even for the demons that asked to go into the pigs. He was so compassionate and that’s why working in power came easy for Him.

Yes!  We have the Holy Spirit who helps us do these things, but without having the mind of Christ, it is impossible to dispense power or as the case may be, walk in miracles.

Let us go back to the last example I gave of those with the “Holier-than-thou” attitude. Imagine a person who has aborted a baby (which the Holier-than-thou person knows of) coming to them to get healed from an illness. They will definitely refuse to lay their hands on that person. They will feel too righteous so they can’t lay their hands on a “sinner”.

How can such people work miracles?

No! way!

Even the adulterous woman was brought to Jesus and Jesus had to use wisdom to solve the problem of religion. He said,

“If you have never sinned before, be the first to cast a stone”

And they all left one after another.

How can such people walk in power?

The only thing they know how to do is judge people and condemn them!

They are judge and jury over everyone’s life!

They wish for all sinners to go to hell.

They want heaven only for themselves!

This isn’t the mind of God and once you have such a mindset, you cannot walk in power.

The law will hold you bound and limit your potentials!

Brothers and sisters!

It’s only Jesus that liberates!

He

Has

Given

Us

Grace!

Hallelujah!!!

And the mercy that is new every morning!

Kayeeeee!!!!

His Mercy will never die!  It renews itself daily at 4am 😝

That grace that speaks better things for us!

Is what we have and has given us power to trample upon all things!

That grace is what gives us dominion and we command things to happen effortlessly!!!

So, my dear brothers and sisters;

  1. Do away with sin consciousness
  2. Do away with religious mentality (Holier-than-thou)

So that you may start to walk effortlessly in Power by the grace and the Spirit of God!

But;

  • You must first of all believe that you cannot sin!
  • You must also love yourself and neighbours, be compassionate enough to pray for people.

With these, walking in Power becomes easy for you!

Let us pray. Heavenly Father we thank You for Your Word, let it shine brightly in us!

Amen!

PLEASE IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION, GO AHEAD AND ASK.

Thank you!

Question:

“Is it OK for a child of God to take drugs when sick?”

Answer:

“Not everyone’s faith is strong enough to carry them when they are sick, so I’d advise they take drugs to avoid dying 😂

Until they grow into that level of faith, it’s OK for Christians to take drugs. It is true that as a child of God you have dominion, you have power. But you grow into these things. You have it, no doubt, but you grow into it.

If your faith does not carry you enough to stay away from medicine when sick as a child of God, please do take drugs until your body grows to resist it.

Our walk with the Holy Spirit is a journey and everyone has a measure of faith which he or she has been given. You keep growing into it by the help of the Holy Spirit.

Personally, I can’t remember when last I fell ill talk more of taking medicines.

I heal the sick every day! It’s normal for me, so I cannot be sick.

But if a sick person comes and asks me for money to buy drugs, I will give them. If they come and ask me for healing, I will give them. Whichever one they ask, I am available to give!

But as for me, I can never be sick in my life!”
