Topic: The Prophetic

Good evening, everyone!

I hope y’all had a fun filled day?  😁 It’s time to drink of the Living Water… Let us pray!!!

Heavenly Father, I thank You for all that You are to us,

All that You have called us!

All that You see us to be,

Help us see ourselves the way You see us,

Help us be all that You have called us to be,

May Your light shine through us today and always! Yes, and Amen!

Today, I will be teaching you on THE PROPHETIC.

Many people think everyone who predicts, sees or has the ability to tell you your past is a prophet. That’s not true!

A prophet has a bigger role than that to play. The office of a prophet is unique and very important as life is….

So, I’d be highlighting many things about the prophetic that you should take note of as a child of God.

As I have written, note that:

1. There is the Spirit of prophecy.

2. There is the gift of prophecy.

3. There is prophecy

4. There is the office of a prophet

5. There is the (person of a) prophet

All these are quite distinct in a beautiful way…

I will define them before I go deeper into each of them.

The Spirit of Prophecy

Know that the spirit of Prophecy is the Holy Spirit, He is the one that leads you into all Truth.

We see this a lot in the Old Testament, that the Spirit of the Lord comes upon the messengers, and they prophesy. An example is 1 Samuel 19:20

1 Samuel 19:20 NLT

he sent troops to capture him. But when they arrived and saw Samuel leading a group of prophets who were prophesying, the Spirit of God came upon Saul’s men, and they also began to prophesy.

The spirit of prophecy comes upon believers who have the need of prophecy in a gathering and where there are no prophets.

We see these a lot in churches; people who you know aren’t called to be prophets, but they prophesy when the atmosphere is charged up and the Holy Spirit wants to find expressions through prophecy, especially where there is a need for it.

This is why every believer can prophesy yet not every believer is a prophet.

Once you have the Holy Spirit, you have the spirit of prophecy.

Please look into these scriptures, time won’t permit me to post them all.

Revelation 19:10 (NLT)

¹⁰Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said, “No, don’t worship me. I am a servant of God, just like you and your brothers and sisters who testify about their faith in Jesus. Worship only God. For the essence of prophecy is to give a clear witness for Jesus.”

The Gift of Prophecy

As every believer has the ability to speak in tongues, every believer is opened to the gift of prophecy,

1 Corinthians 14:4 NLT

A person who speaks in tongues is strengthened personally, but one who speaks a word of prophecy strengthens the entire church.

Once one speaks in tongues and you can interpret or you can speak in tongues and also interpret that which you speak, you are actually prophesying…

It is a gift of the Spirit, but it does not make you a prophet…

As speaking in tongues edifies you, utterances are being released and as you say them, or interpretation of these tongues is given it edifies the church or anyone else who is listening.

Prophecy

This is telling of the mind of God. God reveals deep and secret things to men, and the telling of it is Prophecy.

Amos 3:7 NLT

Indeed, the Sovereign Lord never does anything
until he reveals his plans to his servants the prophets.

In an elaborate definition, this is the revelation of the past, the fore telling of the future, the right instructions for the present.

There are two types of prophecies:

A)  The fore-telling: this is looking into the future and telling what is to come, this is mostly for the office of prophets and seers, it’s a normal for them.

B)  The forth-telling: this is making a declaration of what you want to see in the future, this is mostly for all believers, it should be a normal for you.

The Prophet (As A Person)

A prophet could be defined as one who is called into the office of a prophet.

Ephesians 4:11-16 NLT

11 Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. 12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. 13 This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.

14 Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. 15 Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. 16 He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.

1 Corinthians 12:28 NLT

Here are some of the parts God has appointed for the church:

first are apostles,

second are prophets,

third are teachers,

then those who do miracles,

those who have the gift of healing,

those who can help others,

those who have the gift of leadership,

those who speak in unknown languages.

The Prophet is known to be the mouthpiece of God; he sees and says the mind of God.

Abilities of a Prophet

1. He understands the mysteries of the scripture, he is able to see clearly things that were written in codes in the scriptures, deep and hidden things that are hidden to others.

2. He is the teacher of known truth; He teaches the Bible and the things of the Spirit very well.

3. He is the seer of hidden things, Revelations comes to him easily, God reveals all things to him.

4. He is the bearer of hidden truth; He knows a lot of things that he may not necessarily speak about. God trusts a prophet with the truth of things to come, present or past.

5. He is the teacher of mysteries; He teaches things that are hidden to others in simple terms.

The Office of a Prophet

Did you notice that I defined a prophet and his ability before the office of a prophet? That’s because the office carries these abilities and more….

Once you are called to be a prophet, mysteries unknown to many who do not operate in this office are opened to you as a prophet…

Truth is a lot of things which were written in codes in the scriptures would be made open to you, you begin to see beyond that which is written and can teach it accurately.

You can change situations just at the mention of it, overthrow things and people.

The power of a prophet is enormous, you can create and destroy at will and can even change the mind of God towards anything!

The office of a prophet is an important part of the body of Christ and should never be taken lightly.

At their words, kings are made and overthrown.

At their words, nations are held captive or released.

At their word everything responds!

This is like an introduction class to the prophetic, I hope you have learned something,

Our time is far spent, I’d find time to elaborate more on all I have said today especially the abilities of the prophets and operating in the office of a prophet…

Go and create your world!

If you have questions, kindly ask them….

Let us pray!

Heavenly Father, I thank You for enlightening our hearts today. Thank You for making us perfect! I thank You always! Amen!
