Faith II

By Brother Samuel

Let us pray.

Dear Heavenly Father. Thank You for Your Word that is Spirit and life. I ask Lord that Your Word brings light to our lives tonight which will bring forth illumination in Jesus’ mighty name. Yes, and Amen.

*************

So, tonight we are still looking at the subject of Faith.

We begin by taking our text from 1 John 5:4

4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.

[1 John 5:4]

Now I will begin by letting you know that the Faith you have is the Faith that overcomes.

The scripture says that whatever is born of God overcomes the world.

Now how do you know that you are born of God? Let me show you.

Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him.

[1 John 5:1]

The prerequisite is simply that you believe that Jesus is the Christ. That is the Anointed One of God. Christ simply means the Anointed One or the Messiah.

Now, what then is the implication of being born of God?

The scripture says whatever (indicating no discrimination) is born of God has overcome the world. Now going further what is that victory that enables us to overcome the world?

OUR FAITH!

You see, when the scripture says that the Just shall live by Faith, it wasn’t joking.

To be right with God requires faith and not works.

You see this right?

Faith that Jesus has done it all for me and all I have to do is put my faith in His finished work.

Why do you think Apostle John said “whatever is born of God overcomes the world”. Remember Jesus said “it is finished” on the cross. Meaning He had done everything for you so all you need for life and godliness has been adequately provided for.

Now, the implication of whatever is born of God has overcome means that, the world and all its trials, challenges, tribulation, afflictions etc cannot defeat you because you have the faith that overcomes. This is called the God Faith, the faith that is of God is the Faith that overcomes.

This is the Faith that enables you to exert your dominion on the Earth.

Look at the testimony about the men of old.

32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthah; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:

33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions.

34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

[Hebrews 11:32-34 KJV]

Look at that first line in verse 33; “who through Faith”.

It was not on their own accord or strength. These men understood the active power of Faith that enables dominion on the Earth.

You see the truth is you have that same Faith. The one that overcomes.

But the thing is your Faith thrives when it is fixed on Jesus the Christ of God.

You see, people sometimes wonder why they try to exercise their Faith but it seems not to work. Now stay with me.

You must make God deliberately bigger than what the problem or what the issue seems to be. So, the question now is not whether God is great, no, the question is, is He great in your life (MIND)?

People have a funny way of exulting their problems above God most times unconsciously.

Remember the story of the twelve spies that were sent out by Moses to survey the promised land?

Ten of them saw the problem as bigger than God, but only Joshua and Caleb saw God as bigger than the problem. And look at the testimony of their lives.

Joshua and Caleb were perfect examples of what it means to please God by Faith. The scripture says; “without Faith, it is impossible to please God”.

Listen, you have the Faith that Overcomes (The Faith of Kings). However, whether you choose to exercise is up to you.

Finally, three things that fight against faith:

  1. Unbelief
  2. Doubt
  3. Fear

Do you know that the very reason the Children of Israel did not enter the promised land was not just because God did not allow them, For God’s decision was but a response to UNBELIEF from His children?

So, unbelief stopped a generation from entering into God’s rest for their lives.

The world’s sin is unbelief in me

[John 16:9 TLB]

When Speaking of Doubt, Moses comes to mind. When the Children of Israel were demanding meat, Moses went to God and this was the discussion;

18 “And say to the people, ‘Purify yourselves, for tomorrow you will have meat to eat. You were whining, and the Lord heard you when you cried, “Oh, for some meat! We were better off in Egypt!” Now the Lord will give you meat, and you will have to eat it. 19 And it won’t be for just a day or two, or for five or ten or even twenty. 20 You will eat it for a whole month until you gag and are sick of it. For you have rejected the Lord, who is here among you, and you have whined to him, saying, “Why did we ever leave Egypt?”’”

21 But Moses responded to the Lord, “There are 600,000 foot soldiers here with me, and yet you say, ‘I will give them meat for a whole month!’ 22 Even if we butchered all our flocks and herds, would that satisfy them? Even if we caught all the fish in the sea, would that be enough?”

23 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Has my arm lost its power? Now you will see whether or no my word comes true!”

[NUMBERS 11:18-23]

See what the Lord said in verse 23, has My Arm lost its power? In other words, do you doubt My ability?

Now, God showed mercy to Moses and the Children of Israel here but it does not negate the fact that doubt will cripple your Faith.

Lastly, Fear. I am reminded of the story of Jesus walking on water.

25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, it is a spirit, and they cried out for fear.

27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

[Matthew 14:25-31 KJV]

Long story short Peter doubted because he took his eye off Jesus and focused on the waves and storms and the fear crept in and he began to sink, but the moment he shifted his gaze back to Jesus the saviour of the world he was pulled out of water. For it is not by power nor by might.

I sense in my spirit right now that Jesus is rescuing all those who are sinking in their marriages, finances, businesses, education, spiritual lives, He is pulling you out right now in the mighty name of Jesus, Yes, and Amen.

Shift your gaze child of God. Shift it to Jesus who is in the business of liberation. He is the author and finisher of your faith.

He shall exalt you all in due time.

Yes, and Amen.

Remember, PFMI you have the Faith of God.

You have the Faith of Kings.

You have the Faith that Overcomes and has overcome the world.

Shalom!

Nothing missing!!
