Topic: Eternal Life: The Aspect of Prayer Part II (How Prayer Establishes the Kingdom of God on Earth)

Good evening family, how are we all doing today? You had better be doing fine o😄

This evening, we continue talking about Prayer, and I pray that our hearts are open to see and understand these things in Jesus’ name.

So last week, Sis Princess gave a very wonderful teaching on prayer and one of the things spoken is that “If we don’t pray, we won’t be able to live the life of Christ on earth”.

Amongst other things, we must learn to acknowledge God as our Father every time we pray.

Please find time to go through last week’s teaching, it was a very good one.

Using the wordings of Jesus found in the book of Luke, we shall be looking deep into how prayer establishes the Kingdom of God on earth.

Luke 11:2 NKJV

So, He said to them, “When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

The emphasis for tonight is this: YOUR KINGDOM COME, YOUR WILL BE DONE ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN.

Let me explain this verse of Scripture for some minutes, this was a pre-salvation pattern of praying so we do not exactly pattern our lives around this.

The Kingdom of God is no longer coming, the Kingdom of God HAS COME, and guess what?? it is now WITHIN US, by the Holy Spirit that dwells in us.

Now, there’s a purpose to which the kingdom was given and it is so that, WE MIGHT NOW ESTABLISH THE KINGDOM OF GOD ON EARTH, but we don’t yet see the kingdom of God established on earth as it ought to.

Why? Many don’t even bother to pray to ask for the will of the Father. It is always us doing our thing and asking God to bless it.

From the Scripture, Jesus tells us that wherever the will of God is known and established, the kingdom of God will be made manifest.

In other words, the manifestation of the kingdom of God in our lives is greatly dependent on the will of God, that we know and are doing.

For example, it is the will of God for His children and all men to dwell in good health, so we see in the Scriptures:

Isaiah 53:5 NKJV

“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”

But if one doesn’t know this, he would never be healed even though Christ has paid for his/her healing.

The moment one now has the knowledge of the will of God in this area and says the prayer of faith, healing will take place. Now that healing has taken place, the kingdom of God is established right there.

There’s one thing I want you to know: if the kingdom of God has not been established within you, it can’t be established without.

See this:

Matthew 13:31-33 NKJV

Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field, which indeed is the least of all the seeds; BUT WHEN IT IS GROWN it is greater than the herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.”

Another parable He spoke to them: “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal TILL IT WAS ALL leavened.”

Matthew 13:23 NKJV

But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, WHO INDEED BEARS FRUIT AND PRODUCES: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”

After receiving eternal life, God expects us to GROW in our knowledge of it. It is this growth that will cause us to bear fruit, and this finally leads us to Spiritual Maturity. Let’s look at something Jesus said about maturity.

Matthew 7:13 – 14 NKJV

“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

I’m here to tell you that this verse of Scripture is not about heaven/hell, how did I know this? Right after this statement, Jesus spoke about fruits

Matthew 7:17 – 20 NKJV

Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

Do you know what Jesus is saying? If you are not willing to grow then you cannot bear the fruits worth of eternal life. Truly it is what you sow, that you will reap. If you keep on sowing the things of the Spirit, you will reap the evidence of the kingdom of God within you.

How is prayer then instrumental to spiritual growth?

Jude 1:20 – 21 NKJV

But you, beloved, BUILDING YOURSELVES UP on your most holy faith, PRAYING IN THE HOLY SPIRIT, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

I Corinthians 14:4 NKJV

HE WHO SPEAKS IN A TONGUE EDIFIES HIMSELF, but he who prophesies edifies the church.

What is edification? It is gotten from the word “edifice” which is a BUILDING. Though a physical word, it is a reality in the Spirit. Let’s look at more Scriptures.

I Peter 2:5 NKJV

you also, as living stones, are BEING BUILT up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:22 NKJV

in whom you also are BEING BUILT together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

I want you to notice, all of them are present continuous i.e. it’s an ongoing process BUT it is largely dependent on YOU.

If you are not willing to be built up, God can’t build you up as He wants to. Maturity is a personal decision. You must decide to mature or to grow in the things of the Spirit.

In the books of 1 Corinthians 14 and Jude 20, as it pertains to prayer, the writers make us realize something, that TONGUES are for PERSONAL EDIFICATION. It therefore means, there is a call to INTENTIONALLY PRAY MORE IN TONGUES.

Let’s look at some things Apostle Paul said:

I Corinthians 14:18 NKJV

I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all;

I Corinthians 14:39 NKJV

Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues.

Apostle Paul had come to realize that the more he prayed in tongues, the more the kingdom of God found expression IN him and through him. It will be a great disservice to yourself if you choose not to pray in tongues.

The manifestation of spiritual gifts and the power of the Holy Spirit, understanding of the Word of God, and Revelation of the will of God is greatly dependent on how much time you give to prayer, especially praying in tongues.

If you will only pray in tongues more often, you will see that knowing the will of God is not so difficult. As you pray in tongues, your inner man is built and strengthened to manifest the kingdom of God.

Dear Child of God, God is counting on you to ensure His kingdom is established on earth as it is in heaven. Decide to pray in tongues today, decide to pray in tongues more often and as you do so, you’ll be a vessel unto honor in the hands of the Living God.

Please meditate on these things, and take the necessary steps. You are helped of the Holy Spirit.

Goodnight everyone. 🙏🏽
